Senior Executives Across Sectors

Our cohorts are composed of high-achieving leaders at the helm of their organisations. This includes C-suite executives (CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, CHROs, etc.), executive directors and deputy directors, general managers and senior leaders typically one or two steps below the chief executive level. We intentionally draw participants from a mix of corporate enterprises, government agencies and for-purpose organisations (non-profits and social impact enterprises).

Experienced Decision-Makers

Ideal participants have a significant track record (often 10+ years) of leadership and are responsible for major teams, departments, or initiatives. You might be leading a large division, shaping policy for a government department, or steering a national non-profit. What matters is that you carry substantial responsibility and are in a position to influence organisational direction.

FAQs

The Executive Exchange spans 12 months, designed to fit into (and enhance) your busy life. The core commitment includes three offsite retreats of three days each, spaced evenly throughout the year (for example, one retreat roughly every four months). In between, there are three shorter sessions, these may be half-day in-person workshops or virtual meetings (approximately 2-3 hours each) scheduled at convenient intervals.

In total, you’re looking at roughly 9 full days (for retreats) and a few partial days for interim meetings over the year. We recognise you have a full-time leadership role, so apart from these scheduled events, the program does not demand heavy “homework.” You might engage in some light reading or personal reflection exercises between sessions, but these are flexible and tailored to your schedule.

The retreats are the heart of The Executive Exchange experience. Each retreat takes place at a carefully chosen location (often outside the city, to minimise distractions and spark fresh thinking). During these 3-day gatherings, you’ll dive into a variety of activities:

  • Interactive Workshops & Discussions: Facilitated sessions where we tackle big themes (like the implications of AI on leadership or building adaptive strategies for organsation resilience).
  • Guest Insights: We often invite one or two guest contributors per retreat, thought leaders or industry experts, to provoke new thinking.
  • Peer Coaching Circles: We break into small groups where each executive can put a real-world challenge on the table.
  • Reflection Time: Uniquely, we schedule quiet periods for individual reflection.
  • Networking & Relationship Building: There’s also plenty of informal time, group meals, evening activities, or even an outdoor challenge.

It’s a hybrid model optimised for both depth and convenience. The three main retreats are in-person because we believe there’s no substitute for face-to-face interaction when it comes to building trust and engaging in deep dialogue. These will require travel to the designated retreat venues within Australia (details and ample notice are provided and we handle most of the on-site logistics for you). 

The interim touchpoints are a mix: some may be virtual (via a secure video conferencing platform), which allows everyone to connect without travel for shorter check-ins and occasionally a half-day in-person session if the cohort can easily gather in one place for a specific purpose. Additionally, there is a private online portal for the program where we share resources, updates and where you can continue discussions between meetings.

We frame our content around the major forces shaping the future of leadership and we tailor it to the interests of each cohort. Key themes include:

  • Artificial Intelligence & Technology: Understanding AI’s impact on business and society.
  • Systems Leadership: This is about looking beyond your organisation and leading within complex, interconnected systems.
  • Adaptive Strategy & Innovation: Given uncertainty is the new normal, we cover methodologies for adaptive planning.
  • Personal Leadership & Resilience: A thread through all retreats is you, the leader as a human being.

Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of The Executive Exchange. We understand that for genuine learning and peer support to occur, you must feel safe to share candidly, whether it’s concerns about a merger, struggles with board dynamics, or a bold idea you’re not ready to announce publicly. All participants commit to a confidentiality agreement: what’s discussed within the cohort stays within the cohort.

The environment we cultivate is one of mutual trust and respect. Because everyone is an accomplished executive, they likewise value discretion. This private, invite-only structure further ensures that you’re not presenting to “the world”, you’re in a closed circle of peers who have no vested interest other than to help each other succeed.
